KSA Media Coordinator

KSA Media Coordinator

Role: Media Coordinator / Visual Storytelling & Digital Strategy
Duration: August 2024 – May 2025 (Academic Year)
Organization: Korean Student Association (KSA)

As the Media Coordinator for the Korean Student Association (KSA), I led the digital identity and campus-wide outreach for one of the most active student organizations on campus. By spearheading an integrated digital and physical marketing strategy, I helped transform KSA into a high-engagement community that bridged the gap between Korean traditions and international inclusivity.

Context

I was tasked with revitalizing the organization’s digital identity and physical outreach. The core challenge was to celebrate authentic Korean heritage while ensuring the content and events remained inclusive and inviting for a diverse international audience. Previous years had seen varying levels of engagement, and the goal was to create a consistent, "can't-miss" monthly event cadence that felt professional.

Strategic Actions

1. Visual Storytelling & Brand Consistency

  • Directed the "digital storefront" by overseeing all Instagram content, including leadership introductions and high-energy Reels that humanized the organization.

  • Served as the lead event photographer and editor, ensuring post-event visuals maintained a professional and boutique brand aesthetic.

2. Integrated Marketing & Multi-Channel Outreach

  • Executed a hybrid promotional strategy by balancing high-impact social media Stories with physical poster campaigns across campus to maximize local visibility.
  • Collaborated on graphic design assets to ensure a cohesive visual language across both digital platforms and printed marketing materials.

3. Cross-Cultural Communication & Strategy

  • Strategically "balanced" content and event themes to honor Korean culture while lowering the barrier of entry for non-native participants.
  • Coordinated a monthly "beat" of diverse events—from traditional retreats (MT) to high-traffic fundraisers like the World Food Festival—ensuring consistent community engagement.

Impact

  • Award Recognition: Nominated for the "Best Events Award" at the Student Org Leader Awards. This recognition is reserved for organizations that demonstrate exceptional leadership, vision, and innovation to deliver top-tier campus events marked by high turnout and strong execution.
  • Senior Recognition: Our leadership board was recognized by the graduating seniors as the most successful and impactful KSA team in the last four years.
  • Record Participation: We successfully hosted monthly events with peak attendance reaching over 110+ participants per session.
  • Measurable Digital Growth: Achieved a 10% increase in social media reach within a single academic year through data-informed posting schedules and high-quality creative assets.
